Artistic Advisors

Dan Pinkston (He/Him)

Dan Pinkston is excited to serve as the Artistic Advisor for the Rocky Mountain Pride Band! With 18 years of experience in music education and conducting, Dan brings his passion for artistry, collaboration, and community to the ensemble.

Dan has a rich background in music, both as an educator and performer. He earned his Bachelor’s in Music Education from CU Boulder and his Master’s in Music with an emphasis in Wind Band Conducting from the American Band College of Sam Houston State University. During his studies, he had the opportunity to perform with renowned musicians such as Doc Severinsen, Eugene Rousseau, Bobby Shue, Yolanda Peltzer, Harry Watters, Brian Bowman, and Allen Vizzutti. 

Because of his dedication to music education, Dan also served as the teacher leader for the Boulder Valley School District for 6 years, was the recipient of the district’s prestigious Impact on Education Award in 2018, and was one of the winners of NCL’s Giving Joy program in 2022. Additionally, he currently performs with the Rocky Mountain Brassworks on euphonium!

When not conducting, Dan enjoys hiking, camping, cooking, video games, and gardening. He lives in Denver with his husband, Dustin, and their dog, two cats, a turtle, and some chickens. Dan is excited to build community through music and looks forward to many memorable performances with the Rocky Mountain Pride Band!

Ariel Flach (They/Them)

Ariel Flach (they/them) is a musician and educator based in the Boulder Valley/Denver area. They earned degrees in flute performance and music education from the University of Colorado-Boulder, and hold an M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governors University. Ariel is passionate about storytelling and enjoys participating in art, music, and theatre, both as an artist and an audience member.

Dedicated to creating exciting musical opportunities for musicians of all ages, Ariel thrives in a variety of musical settings. They seek out opportunities for creative collaboration and can be found performing with orchestras, community bands, choirs, and in musical theatre productions.

Ariel currently teaches band and choir in Boulder Valley and serves as the music director for a local church. In their free time, they enjoy spending time with family, friends, and dogs, exploring the outdoors, traveling, experimenting in the kitchen, and attending live music and arts events.
